About this property

Welcome to Alquimia Hotel Boutique, Tulum

Alquimia Hotel Boutique is a coastal lodging option located along Tulum Beach's coastal zone, offering direct access to the shore. The setting is quieter than the busier parts of the beach, making it suitable for visitors seeking a more relaxed atmosphere while still being within walking distance of restaurants, bars, and shops. This balance fits well with those interested in a blend of beach time and local dining experiences.

The property features amenities such as an outdoor pool, beach access, a restaurant, and a bar, complemented by services like free Wi-Fi and an airport shuttle. Guests can enjoy a spa and hot tub on-site, although there is no fitness center. Rooms come with air conditioning and are noted to be clean and functional, though some reviews mention simple furnishings and occasional maintenance issues like door locks. Bathrooms are partially open-air with salty water, which may not appeal to everyone but is typical of beach hotels in the area.

Guest feedback frequently highlights the friendly and accommodating staff, with several guests appreciating the personalized service and special moments such as baby sea turtle releases on the beach. The beach club is well regarded for its comfortable sunbeds and relaxed vibe, although food and drinks are considered somewhat pricey relative to other local options. Quiet evenings are typical, as the hotel’s bar and restaurant close by early evening.

Nearby attractions include the famous Tulum ruins, the Gran Cenote, and Cenote Calavera, providing ample opportunities for cultural sightseeing and outdoor activities. The hotel is approximately a 53-minute drive from the nearest international airport. Given its location and offerings, the property suits travelers looking for a modest beach retreat with convenient access to natural and cultural sites, accepting a few modest trade-offs in room size and some facility limitations.

Hotel staff was incredibly nice! We came here on a last min whim, after our hotel booked and paid for months prior had no reservations for us upon arrival. Gentleman at front desk (closing on 11/9, do not catch his name), quickly found us an oceanfront room at a great discount and threw in breakfast as well! The room was clean, fresh water daily, comfy beds, bath & beach towels daily, AC offered 24hrs (many hotels offer it only during set hours). Deducting one star because the interior lock in our room was broken and there was quite a gap from the door and the frame but we had no issues with bugs! Loved the owners golden retriever, honey! Received breakfast Oceanside twice and staff was friendly and breakfast (coffee & fruit) was quick. Location was perfect. More quiet than further down and was a short walk to some of the best restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques!

I felt so taken care of, all of the staff were professional and welcoming. I loved my hotel room & if you’re lucky you will get to watch baby sea turtles hatch right on the resort. Thank you for the amazing trip

Great staff. Great location. The bar at the beach was really nice also. Good food n drinks. Special thanks to Ingrid and Lucas. Only point you must beware is that the bathroom is open air. The water is a bit salty and the shower could be warmer. Its not for everyone, but i loved to stay there.

My daughter and I had a great experience at the Alquimia at the end February. Manu at the front desk was very helpful and so kind. Restaurant food was pretty good and staff was super friendly. The beach club had good music and was relax (not too loud and not late in the night). The bed and pillows were quite hard but didn’t bother us too much (still slept fine). There was construction at the hotel and next door but in my 3 times in Tulum over the years, I’ve come to accept it as part of the ongoing growth. Would definitely be back.

This place is just a dream! Adorable rooms, absolutely perfect beach and view, food and drinks are good but pricey compared to bars and restaurants around. Staff is amazing, friendly and helpful even if they don’t speak much English. They all took good care of my daughter and I, and accommodated all my requests! We were there the last week of October and it wasn’t crowded at all which it was absolutely perfect! Eddy gives the best massages and was awesome with my kid! One of the last nights the staff invited us to release baby sea turtles and that was just a dream coming true! An unforgettable experience!! If I’ll be back to Tulum I will stay here again for sure!

Overall we had a good experience here at Alquimia. The staff were accommodating with any and all of our requests for extra pillows or towels or taxis to and from town and airport. The beach club is a beautiful set up and the food and drinks are good. Not as expensive as some of the fancier beach clubs but just as nice. The Malakit room was spacious enough for our stuff but minimal appropriate furniture for our bags and toiletries in the bathroom (ie the vanity was very cramped). For a weeks stay, we wanted to set up a bit better than having our bags on the floor all week. The beds are advertised as King beds. But they are definitely double size at best. The main sticking point for us is the price. We spent >$300AUD per night for the two of us which is a fair bit! Back home if we paid that we would get a beautiful stay with zero faults. But we quickly realised, that’s Tulum for you! Alquimia is competitive priced compared to many other hotels in the “hotel zone” of Tulum Beach and if you want a quieter spot, this is it!

A great chill place, clean tidy great atmosphere & the music played is perfect for the ambience of the setting & I don’t normally think like that. The turtles nests highlighted on the beach was very good to see! Be aware though the bar & restaurant closes at 18:00, although there are plenty of bars etc along the road to the . They also have a day pass, 600MXN PP from 12:30-17:30 includes choice of soft drinks, Victoria or Corona beer & many food items. CHOOSE ONE OF EACH SECTION

Overall a great experience for a reasonable price. The hotel located closer to a quiet zone of the beach so nightlife is walkable distance but might take between 15 to 60 min depending on where you go. The service was great and attentive to details, beside of the fact that room cleaning is optional which I found weird. The beach club is the best part of this place when you stay in a hotel it allows you to enjoy comfortable sunbeds. Rooms are small, but enough for sleeping. The beds are not the most comfortable but still good. Regarding the shower water, it is true that it is salty, however this is a very common thing for the beach hotels. The food and drinks are overpriced but also you pay for the view and portions are big.
